New UAP Science Advisory Council forms under Avi Loeb; its scientists get only unclassified data∗
Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb is leading a newly formed UAP Science Advisory Council of about a dozen members, asked by the White House, AARO, and ODNI to bring scientific rigor to anomaly investigations. DefenseScoop reports the team will advise on whether unexplained sightings are national security threats or genuine discoveries, but that an interagency UAP Governance Board stood up by ODNI, the FBI, and the Department of War controls the files: Loeb said all data shared with the council will be unclassified.
It places a named, multidisciplinary science body alongside the government's UAP effort while formally walling it off from the classified evidence, a real limit on how far independent scientists can verify the record.

Department of War publishes third PURSUE release of UAP files
The Department of War released 72 declassified records as the third tranche of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters on June 12, 2026. The release contains 53 documents, 10 images, 6 videos, and 3 NASA audio recordings from the FBI, CIA, NASA, and Department of War, spanning incidents from the 1940s through 2025.
This is the most recent official government release under PURSUE and adds new primary source material to the public disclosure record, including the first publicly released AARO analysis designating a law enforcement case as partially unresolved.

AARO director report designates 40 percent of Western US orb incident unresolved
A June 5, 2026 report signed by AARO Director Dr. Jon Kosloski, published in the third PURSUE release, documents a 2023 incident in which five federal law enforcement agents observed an orange orb launching smaller red orbs near a sensitive national security site in the western United States. AARO correlated roughly 60 percent of the activity with military infrared countermeasure flare exercises but formally classified the remaining 40 percent as Unrecognized Technology pending further data.
