BRIEF: While flying north in a private plans source, who 1s believed to be
reliable, may 6 02" 7 "flying disce in southern Oregon 27 May 1949. The
discs are described as slongated ovals, porhaps 20% in langth; they flow
in E steady file formation at between 200 to 250 UPH; they appeared to be

SOURCE: LTJO Joseph C. SHELL, A5(b), USNR (Inactive), Serial #348375. of
4575 Morthridge Drive, Los Angeles, California. No was comissioned Ensign
5 January 1944. Served at Corpus Christic 30 days AF(T); in Dallas two
months VRF-2(D). Ferried from North American Company plants. Was at
Willow Grove, Pennsylvania for 30 days, Surved at check-out base for ferry
squadron VRF(2) as Columbus; surved ist Columbus until August 1945. Scores
than was with VRF(3) at Terminal Island, California, where he became logal and
personnel officer. Was discharged from the llavy in January 1946 as LTJC.
Source holds Naval Aviator's Certificate #0-17945, plazo 2 sondor
pilot's rating in the Ferry Mng of the Naval Air Transport Command. He al.go
holde a commercial license, single and multi-sngino, and flight instructor's
ratings. Bin flight time bagan in 1934 and FLOW totals over 5000 hours, of
which time 1300 hours were in the U.S.Mavy. Source secured & private license
in 1935, D. transport license in 1937, a commercial dilot's license in 1938,
and a re-issus commercial pilot's license in 1945 (1284256). From March 1942
