Harare put an airport object on alert
The report matters because it puts a strange airport sighting inside a national alert story. The object is described through official channels, but the channel does not prove what it was. The sober reading is narrow: officials were worried enough to circulate the report, and the cause stayed open.
This object was observed, possibly by both radar and optical means, in the skies above Harare during the afternoon of 2 July 2008. The report says beams were observed coming from the object and that observers debated whether it was a foreign reconnaissance device or something else.
According to observers, the object was disc-like in shape with a hollow center, and had a series of rotating lights on the underside. After a period under observation from the ground, the rotating lights shifted colors and the object quickly ascended out of visual range.
