Dear Mr. Augustus:
Thank you for your letter of December 30 which describes in
detail your sighting of an unidentified flying object.
As you are undoubtedly aware, the Air Force has had a major
active program in this area over the past several years and your
report has been turned over to our analysts for evaluation. The
public in general is kept abreast of our activities in this field
through the medium of periodically revised information releases to
the press and other news media.
For your convenience I an inclosing a copy of the "U. S. Air
Force Summary of Events and Information Concerning the Unidentified
Flying Object Program", which compiles all the latest facts estab-
lished by the Air Force in this area,
