RESTRICTED SECURITY INFORMATION Wrtn 22 Sept 1952 (Unclassified) Information for Preparation of Reply to Senator Monroney Dir of Legislation and Liaison OSAF ATTN: Mr. J. O. Crawford Maj Fournet/dbv/71016 AFOIN-2A2 XXXXX FROM: Deputy Director for Estimates, D/I, DCS/O 1. Correspondence from Mr. Martin V. Walsh and related referrals are returned herewith. 2. Since appropriate comments regarding aircraft accidents have been made by CAA in their reply to Mr. Mr. Walsh, it should suffice to confine our reply to the "flying saucer" aspects of his theory. Mr. Walsh's "theory" is typical of the many completely amateurish proposals received on the subject, none of which has any scientific basis except the free use of scientific or pseudo-scientific terms. It is therefore suggested that the reply include a comment, substantially as follows: (Unclassified) In its investigation and analysis of the "flying saucer" reports, the Air Force has found no evidence whatsoever which would substantiate the proposed theory. We are grateful, however, for his efforts to assist us. 1 Incl (w/orig only) Ltr fr CAA dtd 4 Sep 52 w/cc ltr to Sen Mike Monroney fr Martin V. Walsh dtd 23 Aug 52 x 095, Monroney, Senator WILLIAM W.
