General Samford sincerely appreciated your letter of 30 July 1952 and has asked me to convey his thanks to you. We apologize for the long delay in acknowledging its receipt, but we have received such a large volume of correspondence from many citizens with similar patriotic motivation that we have found it impossible to be as prompt as we would like.

With respect to your invitation to assist us further, we are very appreciative but regret that it will be impossible to contact you personally on this matter.
