COMMERCIAL BILL OF LADING NOTATIONS (FEB 2006)
When the Contracting Officer authorizes supplies to be shipped on a commercial bill of lading
and the Contract or wi ll be
rei mbursed t hese t rans portat ion cost s as di rect allowab l e costs ,
the
Contractor shall ensure before shipment is made t hat the
commercial shipping documents are annotated
with e i t her of t he
fol lowi ng not ations, as appr opr i at e :
"Transportation is for t he
and the actual total transportation charges paid to the carrier(s ) by
the c onsignor or consi gnee s hall be rei mbursed by t he Gover nment , pursuant t o cost- rei mbursement
contract No .

(b) If t he Government is not shown as the consignor or t he
consignee, t he annotation shal l be :
(a) If the Government is shown as the consignor or the
consignee, the annotation shall be :
"Transportation is for t he
and t he actual total transportation charges paid to the carrier (s ) by
the consignor or consignee are assignable to, and shall be reimbursed by, the
Government . "
