UNCLASSIFIED (Unclass) Investigation of Unidentified Aerial Object Photos 5000X ATIAB-9 AUG 1 2 1952 Cap't Ropert/vo 6361/b 2630/p L-28 1. Attached are several photographs taken by Mr. John L. Riley of 178 Dugan's Road, First Edge, N. J., which he claims that these are authentic photos of an unidentified aerial object and he apparently attempting to sell them to East Coast news papers. 2. The newspaper which forwarded the photos, the First Star newspaper, has been very cooperative, and it is requested that the fact that they sent the photos to ATIAB not be revealed. 3. ATIAB does not believe these photos are authentic because: a. They were apparently taken in a populated area at 10:15 a.m. and the object was presumably visible for several minutes. Let's see one also reported seeing it. b. The relative size of the objects in the foreground indicates that the object would be about the size of a lady's hand at 30 ft. to 40 ft. long. If the object were further away, it would be extremely large and again it should have been observed by other people. 4. It is requested that the background of the observer and photographer be investigated in an attempt to determine their reliability that the photographer is questioned on to the circumstantial evidence which he took the photographs that an attorney would be able to present in the case and that any other data be obtained that ATIAB believes to be pertinent to determining the authenticity of the photos. 3.
