OCT 3 1952 Mr. John J. Phillips 6047 Baldwin Avenue Temple City, California Dear Mr. Phillips: The Secretary of the Army has referred your letter of 29 August 1952 to us for attention. Although we had already processed yours of 26 August to us, we were, nonetheless, very happy to receive your additional comments. We would like to assure you that the Air Force is not treating the "flying saucer" situation lightly. As recently announced, we are conducting a very serious program of intelligence investigation and analysis, and we will continue to give the problem adequate but not frantic attention. By this time you have most probably received a very detailed questionnaire from the Air Technical Intelligence Center with a request to enter as much detail as you are able to recall about the object which you observed. This should indicate to you our earnest efforts to find a satisfactory solution to the problem. We hope that these brief comments have served to reassure you of the Air Force's attitude towards this subject. We appreciate your keen interest and efforts to assist us. NO M/R WILLIAM A.
