The Air Force kept sorting sightings

Department of War, 1948.

This is a 1948-era Air Force collection of standardized 'Unidentified Aerial Objects' incident summaries, numbered roughly 173 through 233, each a filled-out questionnaire with a written narrative, where some are marked explained as balloons or meteors and others left unresolved. By this point the pattern is clear: some reports look strange, some look explainable, and many are too thin to decide. The archive is at its best when it lets that mixed record stay mixed.
