Citizen letters outlasted the early wave

This is a large FBI headquarters file from 1954 to 1957, gathering field reports, citizen letters, and a contactee newsletter about flying saucers, with the Bureau again referring such matters to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. By the mid-1950s, personal contactee stories and public claims are hard to separate from the official paperwork. The file shows how belief culture made its way into government mailboxes, which does not make the claims true but does make the social history clear.
