A Strait of Hormuz case tangled with comms

Department of War, Strait of Hormuz, 2020.

This is a USCENTCOM mission report covering an aerial reconnaissance flight over the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman on September 15 and 16, 2020. The aircraft saw one unidentified object on full-motion video at 1732Z, after losing its data link twice to possible interference and getting three radio warning calls from Iranian air defense. The tense setting is more interesting than the object itself. The object showing up right after a stretch of communication trouble could mean something, or it could just reflect a busy mission in a crowded, contested waterway.
