The Bureau file became a mailbox

FBI, 1947.

This is the FBI flying-disc file covering 1947 to 1949, gathering field reports, Hoover's correspondence, and Air Force and Army liaison material, with several reported objects shown to be ordinary things like a tow-target or toy kite, hoaxed Oak Ridge photos, and practice-bombing vapor trails. The file keeps receiving reports even as the Bureau steps back from the subject. That tension is the point: people kept writing in while official responsibility belonged elsewhere, so the file works more like a public pressure gauge than a secret investigation.
